The Collective
I suppose this is going to be where I begin. But really this story began almost a decade ago. How does the time go by so quickly.
I chose to forgo my burgeoning career in radio broadcasting to pack up a suitcase (or since a backpack) and move abroad, roaming the world for the sense of home and content I'd observed exists among most other people. Adventure, discovery, joy --- all the goals of the traveling lifestyle. And I found it in bounds.
But what I've had a hard time finding was that sense of home.
Two major cross-country moves at 8 years and 10 years old formed my wanderlusting mind and after years of rearranging bedroom furniture to get that feeling of being surrounded by something new, finishing post-secondary school and being free to face adulthood, I was ready to tackle a changing environment with much more vigor.
Maybe that's why it's been so easy for me to live the way I have for the last few years. Because nothing ties me to one place. Seasons come and go, as do jobs, as do relationships. And soon it's just me again, with my mind and my restless spirit, telling me that there's just too much world out there.
You found this place because that spirit exists, even a little bit, within you too. You're ready to sneak off into the world, or dive in head first, and experience the heartbeat of the planet, the pulse of every day life buzzing in corners tens of thousands of miles away. You want to eat the amazing food, hear incredible music and sounds, see awe-inspiring things, and drink in the happiness and smiles of strangers living their day-to-day lives with purpose and spiritual abundance. Maybe you just want to get away from the routine of your every day.
Let this be a resource for you to help plan your adventures. From the experiences I've had, and through others sharing theirs, you can find nuggets of wisdom, lessons learned along the way, and even just a couple recommendations to make flexing your wanderlust that much easier.
